Transformation
Coastal Watch hosted a planting event, planting pollen plants at SCCF’s Puschel Preserve. The planting process went as follows
Our Volunteers’ Contributions
Month | Changes Made |
---|---|
Stage 1 | Prepare a plan for the planting process and open up opportunities for volunteers who may be involved. |
Stage 2 | Volunteers assisted SCCF staff by planting several hundred plants in the designated pollinator garden area. In just two days of planting, planted over 400 plants including 18 different species of wildflowers, trees, grasses, and shrubs |
Stage 3 | involve planting the lower elevation wetland areas, once it dries out, allowing us to introduce more water-tolerant species |
Meet the Garden’s Unique Inhabitants 🐢
Sanibel Island’s landscaping practices are carefully designed to maintain a healthy ecosystem, ensuring that native plants thrive while creating a welcoming habitat for local wildlife. By preserving the natural balance, these efforts provide a safe and comfortable environment for both plants and animals, keeping the island’s unique biodiversity intact. The Sanibel Captiva Conservation Foundation also synergizes in carrying out various planting programs and protecting native plants on Sanibel Island with the aim of maintaining a balanced ecosystem. Both for the benefit of the surrounding environment and the survival of native animals.
