Why Visit Doc Fordā€™s Rum Bar & Grille?

  • A Place Beyond Food: Doc Fordā€™s isnā€™t merely a restaurant; itā€™s a chapter in the islandā€™s tale. Locals will tell you: No trip to these shores is complete without a stop at Doc Fordā€™s. For over 13 years, I was a light-tackle fishing guide nearby, spending countless days on these waters. When my clients chose not to keep their catch, Iā€™d load it into my pickup and head to the original Doc Fordā€™s location on Rabbit Road. There, Iā€™d ask the chef if he was in a buying mood. The symmetry delighted meā€”Iā€™d once provided seafood here in the ā€™70s, and now, as part of this exceptional team, I play a small role in bringing fresh fish back to these tables.
  • Inspired by Fiction, Rooted in Reality: Doc Ford, the character from my novels, is a marine biologist and tropical adventurer. Heā€™s wandered the same far-flung countries I wrote about during my travels for magazines. Those journeys introduced me to the superb cuisine of the rural tropicsā€”the sauces, the spices, the passion woven into every dish.
  • More Than Food: Doc Fordā€™s wears many hats: a haunt for local authors and book signings, a spot for live music, and a hub for fishing inquiries. Itā€™s where great food meets lively entertainment and that unmistakable Florida spirit.

2. The Mucky Duck Restaurant

@themagicaluniverseandyou

Welcome to the Mucky Duck! This restaurant is located on Captiva Island, right on the beach. You can dine in, carry out, or just sit at the bar and grab a drink. This has been a family staple for many years, mostly because of the view, but definitely because of the food! This is one of our favorite restaurants each year we visit the island. Our favorites include: šŸ¦† The seafood platter 10/10 šŸ¦† Crunchy Grouper 10/10 šŸ¦† Seafood Pasta- this is usually a special, but we have been lucky the last couple years, they have always had it 10/10 šŸ¦† Pretty much any of their salads topped with blackened shrimp 10/10 next time you are visiting Sanibel or Captiva, make sure you add time to visit the mucky duck. We usually go for lunch because of the crowds, but if you can plan it right, the sunset is to die for while youā€™re eating. ththemagicaluniverseandyouacameraeatsfirsteyelpeyelpeliteeyelpsouthwestflasanibelasanibeldiningasanibelislandasanibelcaptivafoodasanibelcaptivafoodieaeatlocalsislanddininghthecameraeatsfirstacaptivaacaptivafoodacaptivafoodiea#captivafoodies
